The property belongs to the Duke of Northumberland and its eclectic interior was designed by the architect Robert Adam in the 1760s. In 1541, Henry VIII's fifth wife, Catherine Howard, faced her long imprisonment at Syon. In February 1542, she was taken London Tower and, accused of adultery, was executed.
